Michael Ann and I began this trip in late May. We flew to Seattle, stopped to visit my
friends Warren and Pat Carlson in Olympia for about a day before driving to Olympic National
park . We visit Lake Quinalt , hiked a bit, camped a night, then headed West to the Pacific
coast. We camped many nights from the rental car and a few nights backpacking in the Park.
One backpacking night was in the Hoh Rain Forest. You can see from the photos that we
experienced no rain for our 10 days of travel,
Michael's cousin, Erin, is a biologist for the National Park Service in Olympic. We met with
her, stayed at her home in Port Angeles, hiked, camped, dined and visited with her and her
biologist friends.
Erin hiked with us on Hurricane Ridge and to and along the coast on the very tip of the U
S. (see photos) One day we visited a local winery and lavender "farm."
Leaving Port Angeles we stopped in Tacoma to visit the Glass Museum and viewed
resident Dale Chihuly's glass art.
An overnight in Seattle, then a tour of the Pike's Market before flying home.
